Q. DOES RIVERSCAPE COUNSELING ACCEPT MY INSURANCE FOR PAYMENT?
Answer: Yes and No
IN NETWORK: Riverscape Counseling counselors are on a variety of different insurance panels as network providers. We have counselors who are in network with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Tricare, Molina, UMR, Medical Mutual, Caresource, Medicaid, Humana, Lifesync, and we are always adding more so please call our intake staff at 937-319-4448.
OUT OF NETWORK: Those in which Riverscape counselors are not pre-approved as a network provider, we will bill your insurance and many insurance plans reimburse something for “out-of-network” providers. Some out-of-network plans have benefits that are actually cheaper than their in-network benefits because of the nature of our services, our intake staff would be happy to explore this possibility for you.
**WE CANNOT BILL: Medicare, United Healthcare, Optum, Paramount, Molina Marketplace, and Anthem plans beginning with DAOAN or OHOAN.
Q. HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT MY PORTION OF THE FEE WILL BE WHEN YOU BILL MY INSURANCE?
Answer: We will work with your insurance company to determine what your fee will be based on you specific plan.*Although Riverscape Counseling will contact your insurance company regarding your mental health/behavioral benefits (co-pay, deductible, etc.) for both in and out-of-network providers, any information collected is subject to change at any time as insurance companies change coverage frequently. It is the client’s responsibility to pay any fees uncovered by insurance such as deductibles, co-pays, uncovered services, no show charges, etc.
Q. HOW DO I CHOOSE THE COUNSELOR THAT IS RIGHT FOR ME? HOW DO I SET UP AN APPOINTMENT?
Answer: Riverscape Counseling offers a broad range of services through our trained staff. When you call our main office, unless you are requesting a specific counselor, our intake staff will ask you questions that will help identify the specific issues for which you seek assistance. They will then refer you to an appropriate counselor based upon your gender preference, your presenting concern, and your insurance and financial needs. You will need to have your insurance card and demographic information available before an appointment will be set. Riverscape Counseling will help in checking your insurance coverage, the information collected can change at any time as insurance companies change their coverage amounts frequently.
Q. HOW LONG IS A SESSION?
Answer: Your first session can range from 55 minutes to 90 minutes. Sessions thereafter are generally about 55 minutes in length. For United Health Care clients, a session is about 45 minutes.
Q. WHAT HOURS ARE AVAILABLE FOR APPOINTMENTS?
Answer: Business hours are listed under the contact us page. At Riverscape Counseling we have morning, afternoon, evening and Saturday appointments; however, each counselor’s availability varies.
Q. WHAT PAYMENT METHOD IS ACCEPTED?
Answer: We accept cash, check, Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover cards for payment. Fees and/or co-pays are due at the time of service and will be collected before your session, when you check in for your appointment.
Q. WHAT TYPE OF RESULTS DOES YOUR TREATMENT ACHIEVE?
Answer: Through their therapeutic work, the therapists at Riverscape Counseling have seen their clients improve coping skills, decrease ADHD symptoms, work through traumas, eliminate anxiety and depressive symptoms, improve their behaviors, increase academic performance, increase self-esteem, develop positive communication skills, improve family relationships, and find freedom from mental health symptoms.
Q. DOES Riverscape Counseling ACCEPT MEDICARE OR MEDICAID?
Answer: Riverscape Counseling accepts Caresource, and Molina as well as straight Medicaid. Not Medicare
Q. HOW DO I REACH MY THERAPIST IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY? WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HAVE AN EMERGENCY?
Answer: In the event of a life threatening emergency, please call 9-1-1, or go to the nearest hospital emergency room. If it is non-life threatening, please call Crisis Intervention at 224-4646
It is suggested that you speak with your therapist regarding how they would want you to contact them in an emergency situation. RIVERSCAPE COUNSELING DOES NOT PROVIDE CRISIS SERVICES.
Q. WHY WOULD THERAPY BE HELPFUL FOR ME?
Answer: Often times we are faced with challenges in life in which seeking counsel can be very valuable. Our professional therapists are trained in evidence based models of therapy that have proven to help individuals overcome their struggles. Counselors provide support for individuals and families who have struggles with ongoing anxiety, depression, trauma issues, attention issues, etc. Counselors also can be very valuable in assisting individuals in overcoming life challenges such as divorce, job loss, relational conflict, grief, stressful situations etc.
Your therapist can help give you an objective outlook on your situation and teach you tools to use to cope with and overcome difficult life issues as well as those that may arise in the future. Your therapist will provide unconditional support and will challenge you without judgment. Your therapist has been trained in numerous effective strategies that will help you:
Attain a better understanding of yourself
Develop skills for improving communication skills and strengthening relationships
Increase problem solving skills
Find resolution to the concerns that led you to seek assistance
Discover new ways to overcome stress and anxiety
Learn ways to better manage depression, grief, anger and emotional stress
Bring awaited change to your life through developing more efficient behavior patterns
Increase self-esteem and self-confidence
Q. WHAT WILL THERAPY BE LIKE?
Answer: When you first come to Riverscape Counseling you will be greeted by one of our staff members. You will be asked to fill out a few pages of paperwork that explain our policies and collect information about you and what you are seeking counsel for. When you are finished your counselor will take you into one of our three therapeutic suites. Therapy is a unique process for every individual. In general, your therapist will build the relationship by getting to know you and how you think about things. These individual differences will then be used to personalize the therapy approach that will be the most effective for your personality, your concerns and your situation.
During your first session, you will discuss your primary goals and your preferred direction of treatment. It is typical that the therapy sessions will then be centered on your specified goal. Therapy can be short-termed and focused on a specific goal or it can be longer-termed and focused on more complex personal growth. Typically, you will be asked to do certain tasks outside of your therapy sessions to deepen your personal growth and increase effectiveness of treatment. For therapy to be most effective, you and often your family members must be actively participating on a consistent basis.
At Riverscape Counseling, you can expect our therapists to be compassionate, respectful and understanding. You can expect your therapist to focus on your strengths and empower you to use strategies you have learned to endorse positive change in your life. You will receive practical guidance and support through your trails. Our therapist will work to further your perspective of your situation in order to decrease stressful and negative feelings.
Q. WHY DO SOME PEOPLE NOT WANT TO USE THIER INSURANCE?
Answer: Two concerns exist. First, some are concerned that if you need to sign up with a new insurance company in the future you may be disqualified with the new insurer for life, health and other types of insurance because you at one time had a diagnosis. While others argue that with health care reform this is a likely to be a big concern.
Second, some insurance companies limit counseling services in order to prevent over use of benefits and keep their costs as low as possible. This means an insurance company may deny you the type or amount of counseling you can receive under their coverage. At Riverscape Counseling we do not exclusively take insurance, so if this is a problem you run in to we can work out an out of pocket fee if your insurance will no longer pay for services. We work to ensure that the quality of your care is not compromised in any way by insurance’s possible limitations.
